Fiber Arts
The Fiber Arts program, which includes both masters and doctoral programs, aims to cultivate fiber artists and educators as well as industrial experts with the intellectual capacity and creative skills required in a professional artist. It provides education in the arts, crafts, and design of textile and fiber that embrace both the traditional and the modern.
The curriculum is based on formative arts while the fields of craft and design are merged in courses of theory and practice so that students can develop expertise and their distinctive artistic perspective.
Graduates of this program can find careers as fiber artists, craft artists, textile designers, in-house MD/VMDs, art museum or gallery curators, or in textile companies. -
Fashion Design
The Fashion Design program, which includes both masters and doctoral programs, aims to nurture leading professionals in fashion education and fashion industry through a systematic curriculum that promotes formative capacities in addition to design thinking, planning, and analytical skills. As the first program in Korea to focus on fashion design from the basis of art, it seeks to impart a systematic set of design thinking skills. Through various international exchange programs, it also strives to cultivate female professionals equipped with the competitiveness to perform on the global stage.
The curriculum covers, among other things, the characteristics of the human body and model, environmental issues and design, fashion and art, and the cultural and economic functions of the fashion design industry. It is designed to help students develop the skills to solve all kinds of fashion design related problems and the multifaceted developmental perspective so that they can bring into reality the sociocultural and aesthetic values of design. The Fashion Design Research Institute, established with the intent to specialize the Fashion Design program, carries out various industry-university cooperation programs and enables students to build their expertise through field-oriented education.
Graduates of this program find careers as fashion designers, fashion art directors, fashion journalists or editors, performance costume designers, stylists, fashion photographers, fashion VMD, textile designers, fashion colorists, fashion merchandisers, accessory designers, fashion consultants, or fashion analysts.
