PRESENTATION

Visual Communication Design is a field that creates and delivers meaning through text and images. It is both one of the most fundamental languages of design and a discipline connected to the broadest range of fields. The Visual Communication Design program at Ewha Womans University began in 1947 as the Department of Design and has produced graduates who have worked across many areas of the Korean design industry over the past eighty years. This accumulated experience continues to shape the current curriculum.
The curriculum begins with the foundations of visual form and develops through advanced studio practice and experimentation, expanding systematically from practical design to more author-driven approaches. The program aims not only to provide the knowledge and technical skills required of designers, but also to develop methodologies that can respond to changing trends and media environments.
Through critiques, team projects, and collaborations with other disciplines, students repeatedly practice finding ideas and developing them into persuasive outcomes. Within the environment of Ewha Womans University, perspectives and experiences shaped by women also contribute a distinct depth and sensitivity to the work.
Graduates go on to work across a wide range of fields, including branding agencies, advertising, publishing, game and entertainment industries, and in-house design teams at public institutions and corporations, as well as in independent practice and research.
