-Master's Program
This program focuses on deepening individual creative activities within theoretical and philosophical contexts, and enhancing professional expertise by exploring the diverse media and discourses of contemporary art.
Theory and Critical Studies (e.g., Criticism of Contemporary Art, Discours of Contemporary Art, Contemporary Philosophy of Art, Cultural Theories): Students study the latest trends and critiques in the art scene and analyze post-modernist contemporary art discourses to cultivate a critical perspective. They also learn about contemporary philosophy and cultural theories since the 20th century to build a theoretical foundation for deepening their own work.
Advanced Studio and Projects (e.g., Contemporary Art Studio, Studies of Contemporary Painting, Contemporary Art Project): Through individual studio work, students develop their artistic reflections on life and the world in depth. They build upon their understanding of traditional painting to foster contemporary expressive skills and materialize their personal thematic interests through projects implemented both on and off campus.
Media Expansion and Convergence Studies (e.g., Contemporary Art & Media, Integrated Media Studio, Studies of Media Art): This area involves in-depth research into new media domains such as print media, video, and interactive art, in addition to painting. Students explore the open possibilities of contemporary art through expanded media and technological experiments, broadening the scope of their work by experimenting with various expressive techniques.
Thesis Preparation (e.g., Seminar on Dissertation Subjects, Independent Studies): Students explore and deepen research topics related to their own work to lay the groundwork for writing their degree thesis. They conduct independent research in consultation with their academic advisor to prepare for graduation.
-PhD Program
This program aims to cultivate experts who can form their own unique discourses and explore new paradigms in the field of contemporary art through more in-depth research than the master's program.
Doctoral Studio (Post Studio Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ): Based on individual creativity and inquiry, this course promotes a multi-dimensional understanding of the essence of artistic expression and the entire scope of one's work. Through profound research and production processes, students explore new paradigms of 21st-century art and the diverse possibilities of contemporary art.
Doctoral Theory (Criticism of Contemporary Art, Topics of Contemporary Art): Students critically examine and critique contemporary art from a new perspective in light of globalization. They comprehensively research and analyze the paradigms of 21st-century art, forming activated theoretical discourses through in-depth discussions within historical and social contexts.
Doctoral Dissertation Preparation (Independent Studies Ⅲ,Ⅳ): Students conduct independent research for their doctoral dissertation in close consultation with their academic advisor. They complete their doctoral research by submitting a research proposal, progress reports, and a final dissertation.
