CURRICULUM
Year 1
The first-year curriculum focuses on developing an understanding of form and volume, which are fundamental elements of sculptural art, through observation and creative experimentation with the human body as well as various objects and phenomena. Emphasizing three-dimensional expression within space, students cultivate conceptual thinking through close observation, research, and analysis of objects. Through exploration of form, structure, and objects, the program helps students understand the value of artistic expression and establish a foundation for creative sculptural practice.
Year 2
The second-year curriculum builds upon foundational skills to expand the expressive scope of sculptural art while introducing the formative characteristics and basic techniques of various media. Through creative experimentation using digital software, as well as stone, metal, wood, clay, and ceramic practices, students explore the physical properties and expressive potential of materials and apply them to the process of artwork production. In addition, based on an understanding of human anatomy and sculptural principles, students develop observational and expressive abilities while deepening their creative artistic competence through the study of humanity, society, and nature alongside theoretical learning grounded in self-directed and critical thinking.
Year 3
In the third-year curriculum, students cultivate creative artistic thinking and advanced creative capabilities through experimental sculptural expression utilizing a wide range of materials, media, and technologies. Based on a theoretical understanding of contemporary art and sculpture, they explore diverse modes of expression including modeling, carving, installation, soft sculpture, photography, and media-based practices, while developing a sculptural language aligned with their own artistic concepts. In addition, through critical inquiry into humanity, society, and nature, alongside research into the physical properties of materials, the curriculum is designed to deepen students’ ability to produce original works with a contemporary sensibility and refined aesthetic thinking.
Year 4
In the fourth-year curriculum, students focus on establishing their own distinctive artistic world and refining an original sculptural language through advanced creative research utilizing diverse materials and media. Under individualized faculty guidance, they independently carry out the entire process of planning, producing, exhibiting, and critically reflecting on their works, while deepening their critical thinking and creative expression through continuous critiques and seminars. In addition, students explore various contemporary art discourses related to space, environment, and site-specificity, and through graduation project research and exhibition processes, the curriculum is designed to cultivate both professional competence and practical artistic capabilities as independent artists.
