Seung Ean Cha
Fiber Arts
Professor Art&Design Bldg. A406 02-3277-2532 scha@ewha.ac.kr
Professor Seungwon-Cha serves as a Professor of Fiber Arts at the College of Art & Design. She graduated from Hongik University with a degree in Fiber Arts and earned her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Through the performative processes of weaving and dyeing, she reinterprets and expands the history of art and craft, establishing a unique world of "Woven Painting" that combines woven structures with pictorial surfaces. She has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Korea, East Asia, and Europe, including residencies and projects at The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation (2018) and the Center for Heritage Arts and Textile (2022). Her works are collected by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), and the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art. Her recent research focuses on digital weaving, Jacquard technology, and the re-contextualization of everyday fiber materials. She teaches courses such as Contemporary Tapestry, Embroidery Creative Studio, and Fiber Arts Project.

Soo In Lee
Fiber Arts
Professor Art&Design Bldg. A 404 02-3277-4405 sooinlee@ewha.ac.kr
Professor Soo-In Lee majored in Fiber Arts at Ewha Womans University and earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Fiber and Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She furthered her studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium, and completed an MA in Fashion Design at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in the UK. Professor Lee has conducted experimental research expanding fiber arts into three-dimensional and temporal spatial art through organic integration with multidisciplinary media, including painting, sculpture, installation, video, and fashion. Since her 2013 collaboration project with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), she has been active internationally. Her works are held in prestigious collections, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Government Art Bank. Since joining Ewha in 2018, she has focused on exploring the mediatized transformation of fiber materials and nurturing future generations within the expanded discourse of contemporary art.

Soon Ran Youn
Fiber Arts
Professor Art&Design Bldg. A405 02-3277-4407 soonranyoun@ewha.ac.kr
Professor Soonran Youn researches methodologies for artistic experimentation in contemporary fiber formation. After earning her second Master's degree from Indiana University Bloomington, she spent seven years as a full-time artist in the United States, solidifying her artistic foundations. Among her 18 academic papers—the results of interdisciplinary research aimed at expanding the spectrum of fiber arts—"Human Form Representing the Simultaneity of Absence and Presence" best illustrates her exploration of formative arts. Her work seeks to express the paradoxical combination of binary opposites, such as "being" and "non-being," by looking into the unknowable reality behind the visible world. During her time in the U.S., she received the 2002 Lillian Elliott Award (renamed The Branford Elliott Award in 2011) from the TSA and was selected for the 2021 Outstanding Faculty Research Support.
