CURRICULUM
Year 1
As the foundational course for the Western Painting major, this program establishes the conceptual groundwork of contemporary art and explores the fundamental materials and techniques of painting. Students cultivate an artistic perspective and foster the ability to express it creatively through diverse materials. The program aims to equip students with fundamental formative sensibilities and expressive skills in painting, thereby laying the groundwork for developing their own unique artistic practice.

2nd Semester: Materials and Techniques
Year 2
Building upon the foundational course of the first year, students expand the realm of painting, explore various media, and discover their own artistic language. The program aims for students to broaden their range of expression by experiencing new media such as printmaking, photography, and digital media, while simultaneously developing their work in greater depth through drawing and painting workshops. Through this process, they cultivate an integrated perspective and expressive abilities that encompass both traditional methods and contemporary media.

Year 3
Based on the expanded understanding of media from the second year, this stage is dedicated to strengthening the theoretical foundation and establishing an independent artistic world through self-directed experimentation. Students conceptually deepen their work based on a profound understanding of contemporary art and the humanities. Furthermore, they engage in experiments that fuse various media alongside in-depth painting research, aiming to cultivate practical competencies as professional artists through the process of art planning and creation.

2nd Semester: Experimental Studio Ⅱ, Technology Workshop Ⅱ, Art and Humanities, Painting Workshop Ⅳ, Art Planning and Creation
Year 4
This is the final stage where students synthesize and build upon their learning from the past three years, making final preparations to work as professional artists after graduation. Students complete their graduation projects through self-directed studio work and cultivate a critical perspective to understand their work within art-historical and social contexts through theory courses. The ultimate goal is to complete preparations for entering society as an artist by creating a portfolio that encapsulates their artistic world.
